The body of a woman believed to be in her early 30s was Monday morning found in a building near the Ahodwo roundabout in Kumasi.

Eyewitnesses said they suspected she was a sex worker in the Ahodwo roundabout area which is noted as a place sex workers ply their business at night.

The body was found lying supine with her green stretcher trouser pulled to her groin with scratch marks on her neck. She was found in a building opposite the Alliance Française school.

The Assemblyman for the Ridge Electoral area, Mr Abraham Boadi told Graphic Online he was informed about the incident around 8:30am and the police was called in to convey the body to the mortuary.

According to the Assembly man, she was later identified as Vivian by her friends, who are also suspected to be sex workers.

Items found around the body included two ladies panties and used toilet papers and a used condom.

The homicide unit of the Ashanti regional Police Command later came for the body for autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The Ahodwo round about area is noted to be the hub of sex workers in the Kumasi metropolis. They parade their trade on the stretch of the road from the roundabout to the erstwhile Kiravi night club through to the Golden Tulip hotel.
