Be Vigilant But Don’t Manhandle WASSCE Candidates—Sunyani MCE Appeals To Invigilators

The Municipal Chief Executive of Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region, Hon. Akwasi Oppong Ababio, has pleaded with invigilators at this year’s WASSCE Examination on behalf SHS leavers, to exercise enough patience when supervising the students.

According to him, most students end up failing their exams due to the attitudes of some invigilators who supervise the exams.

Hon. Akwasi Oppong expressed this concern in an exclusive interview with ModernGhana, following the ongoing SHS WASSCE examination.

‘Some harsh behaviors from invigilators put fear in most students during examination which I think does not favour the students’, he stated.

He said, there were students who knew exactly what they were writing but, “sometimes the fear and panic alone from external supervisors make them forget everything they had learnt.”

The MCE emphasised that the municipal assembly together with the regional education directorate have done effective work to equip the students in the area for smooth writing of the exams.

The move, he said, would help remove the tag from the region as leading examination malpractices during last year’s WASSCE examination, believing that the collaboration between the assembly and education directorate will yearn better results.

“I would like to also advise the students to work harder towards achieving their bright goals in the near future. I wish all students of this year’s examination across the country, the very best of success,” the concerned MCE added.
