The Honourable Member of Parliament for the Adentan constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Emmanuel Nii Ashie- Moore has declared a crucial war against the devastating effects of filth within the Adentan Municipality with a number of interventions.

Among the number of projects and activities line up by the MP in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly to ensure cleanliness within Adentan and its environs includes what has been dubbed “Kae Ebola, Kae Cholera’’ (meaning away EBOLA, away CHOLERA), spelling quiz competition for school children on sanitation and appointing ambassadors against the two diseases and Cholera and Ebola health screening in the municipality.

Hon Ashie-Moore who disclosed this to The Insight in an interview in Parliament house he is embarking a fund raising activities in addition to statutory funds from the District Assemblies Common Fund for the waste management exercise.

According to him churches, mosques, schools and lorry parks within the municipality would be involved in the exercise with educational sensitization campaigns and health screening exercises especially on Ebola for constituents.

He revealed that his office together with the assembly has acquired about 60 pieces of big gallons for distribution to bodies to encourage residents to practice frequent hand washing whiles free hand gloves, sanitizers would be distributed to residents.

He disclosed that Ward coordinators would be made to liaise with the municipal taskforce to ensure constant and proper disposal of waste to make Adentan the cleanest Assembly in the country.

He also charged the various MMDAs to tax plastic producers more to generate revenue to help clear the waste in the system.

The MP also advocated for the use of plastic bags for other useful purposes like the making of bags and other items rather than disposing it off all the time.

Hon Ashie- Moore called for enforcement of laws on sanitation and the revisiting of the sanitation inspectors concept to keep residents on their toes.

He commended authorities for instituting the National Sanitation Week concept and encourage all Ghanaians to support the exercise to succeed.
