Akufo-Addo Postpones Return From UK

Two-time presidential Candidate of the biggest opposition party in Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has extended his UK holiday by six more weeks, myjoyonline reports.

The former Attorney General was billed to return home on January 27 but sources close to him say he is not coming down until March.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its national delegates’ Congress at that same time.

Nana Akufo-Addo flew out of the country after the Supreme Court ruled on the election petition case in August.

The former Attorney General is expected to announce his political future upon his return.

His relative, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko suggested on his facebook wall that Nana Akufo-Addo’s absence for another six weeks “may do more do more good and no harm”.

He said: “I’ve heard a lot of moves to welcome Nana Addo’s return on January 27th, two days after the regional elections of the NPP. Encouraging. But, really, considering he has been able to keep himself out of all the internal jostling for positions and the big one is due March 1, is there not a case for him to continue same way and stay put to return after March 1st?
