AFAG ‘Aagbe Wↄ’ Demo underway

Pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance’s (AFAG) demonstration dubbed “Aagbe WÍ»” [They are killing us] is currently underway in Accra.

Hundreds of Ghanaians have joined AFAG in the street protest.

The demonstration is to protest against the high level of corruption and economic hardship existing in the country.

General Secretary of the group, Arnold Boateng told Citi News, they are expecting over 10,000 people to take part in Wednesday’s demonstration.

According to him, the group is determined to send a message to the government that it is “reckless and the nation is moving in a wrong direction.

” He said “if you are a government and you have even five people demonstrating against you, you will know that something is wrong.” Boateng urged Ghanaians to join them in the demonstration because the development of the nation is a responsibility for all.

He warned that “if we don’t come out in our numbers to put the right message to the President, we may end up in a gargantuan pit.”

The demonstrators would march through some principal streets of Accra including Adabraka, Makola among others.

Meanwhile, about 150 Police personnel are accompanying the demonstrators to ensure law and order.

The Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Afua Tenge has cautioned demonstrators to conform to the rules and various traffic directions that will be given by the Police.
