Abongo inducted into office as Upper East Regional Minister

Bolgatanga, Mar. 4, GNA – Mr Albert Abongo, the Member of Parliament for the Bongo Constituency, was been inducted into office as the Upper East Regional Minister.

He succeeds Mr James Zuugah Tiigah, who was relieved of his post during a ministerial reshuffle.

Mr Daniel Syme, the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, was also replaced by Dr Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem, a Senior Lecturer of the University for Development Studies.

The new Upper East Regional Minister before his appointment, has served in various roles including Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Communications, and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Lands and Forestry

Handing over to the new Regional Minister, Mr Tiigah urged the Municipal and District Chief Executives including the heads of department to support the incoming Minister to transform the Region.

Mr Abongo, on his part said, he would do everything within his means with the support of the political heads and the heads of the departments to turn the fortunes of the Region round.

He said his developmental agenda for the Region would soon be made known and cited education, agriculture and road infrastructure as areas of concern on his agenda.

‘The Bolgatanga township roads will be worked on including the Bawku-Bolgatanga road and the opening up the road leading to Fumbisi in the Builsa South District which is one of the food baskets in the country,’ Mr Abongo said.
