Aboatam Youth Appeal For Support

The youth of Aboatam, a community in the Kumasi metropolis of the Ashanti Region is daring political parties not to step foot for campaigns in the community ahead of 2016 general elections.

The angry youth has also threatened not to vote in the upcoming general election if government fails to address the current social challenges facing the area.

The youth says the community has been abandoned from distribution of basics social amenities by both past and current government administration, making life uncomfortable for them.

Hon. Joseph Oppong Boadi, Assemblyman at the area said the community can only be recognized with its deplorable roads nature.

Hon. Joseph Oppong Boadi speaking in an interview with modern Ghana in Kumasi mention that, a population of 7,000 people have only two bore holes in the community which is hard for them .

“The existent school building can no more accommodate the students since there is increasing population growth” he stated.

According to him, patients have to travel several miles before accessing health care since there is no clinic at the area.

“Many pregnant women have suffered miscarriages when traveling for pre antenatal care due to the bad nature of the road” he added.

He stated that, the toilet facility serving the area is in very bad state which makes some deviant people ease themselves in school compounds.

He, therefore, appeals to the government, NGO’s and individuals to come to their aid
