3rd Edition Of Kumasi Konnect Targets How To Build A Compelling Personal Brand

The world of work has been changing rapidly during the past decade due to increased globalization, the proliferation of online social media, and technological advancement which is bridging the gap between work and personal lives. Personal branding is very powerful because it sends a clear, consistent message about who you are and what you have to offer. A strong personal branding positions and sets an individual apart on the career market.

Come March 6, 2015, the 3rd edition of Kumasi Konnect will come off at KNUST on the theme: “Building a Compelling Personal Brand”. Medical Superintendent of the Bosomtwi District Hospital in Kuntenanse, Dr. Kwasi Baffour Gyimah, will highlight his personal and professional experiences; including key innovative dimensions in the pursuit of personal branding.

Dr. Kwasi Baffour Gyimah, a product of the School of Medical Sciences (SMS-KNUST) is one of the youngest intellectuals to occupy such a position in the Ashanti Region. He possesses considerable experience in healthcare administration and management having worked previously as the medical director and board member of the Bryan Lowe Orthopedic & General Hospital at Mampong-Akuapim, one of the biggest private medical facilities in Ghana.

The medical whiz-kid holds an MSc in Child Health from the University of Warwick Medical School, UK and an MB ChB & BSc (Human Biology) from KNUST Medical School, Ghana. His passion lies in pediatric neurodevelopment and childhood disability. Kwasi’s initial business, iCommerce (Gh) Ltd., which he co-founded with his childhood friend, was the company that negotiated one of the biggest sponsorship partnerships in Ghanaian football between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and RLG Communications. He has since worked with several startups in Accra and Kumasi, such as Winky’s Expressions, FitVolution by Maabena, Accesorize by Scilla, Nakfram Events & Bubune – providing business development, strategy and branding advice.

Kumasi Konnect is an initiative by the Ghana Think Foundation and sponsored by Google and TechHub. This meet-up happens every quarter and seeks to invite at least 40 young energetic and innovative minds in Kumasi. This event series will further commune the network built out of Barcamp Kumasi.

The first Kumasi Konnect received a high patronage, with our speaker Mr. Frank Boateng who is the Executive VP for XP Resources LLC in Houston USA and Country MD for EquipXP Mining and Construction Ghana Ltd. He is also the Country Manager for XP Resources Ltd spoke on “Turning Passion into Business”. Participants were taking through how to turn passion into business and the results from this meeting was massive with many testimonies on how the knowledge acquired from the meeting is helping them.

The second Kumasi Konnect was held on September 4, 2014 with Valerie Okudzeto, Chief Executive Officer of Clean Team Ghana, as the speaker. She spoke on “Leveraging Opportunities for Personal Development”. Valerie motivated participants on how they can leverage opportunities for personal development.
