The CEO of Dons Promotion has confirmed that undefeated boxer, Robert ‘Stopper’ Quaye, is their bonafide property so far as the discipline is concerned.
He stated that his outfit had bought the right from original managers, Classic Vision Sports Management, hence the undefeated fighter is now with Dons Promotion.
A brouhaha surrounded the boxer’s status a few weeks ago when three promotional firms claimed ownership of the 27-year-old, who had fought 16 times professionally.
The BabyJet Promotions, owned by Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan who had earlier signed the fighter to its fold got the shock of their lives when Classic Vision informed the Daily Graphic that they acted in bad faith.
Subsequently, the CEO of Classic Vision, Alhaji Zaid, explained that he had signed a deal with Dons Promotion for an outright purchase of the boxer to the stables of businessman, Michael Nii Yarboi Annan.
In an interview last Wednesday, he confirmed that the fighter was now under Dons Promotion and is no longer in the stables of Classic Vision and BabyJet Promotions.
Mr Annan vowed to mould ‘Stopper’ into a world champion sooner than later and noted that he had called on the boxer to take the sport seriously.
“Quaye is now our boxer; he has permanently signed with Dons Promotion and we are taking good care of him”, he stressed.
He also confirmed that the boxer, who had a mean look and a coarse voice, will feature in the upcoming Dons Promotion Fight Night dubbed: ‘Battle of the Titans’ on December 26 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Quaye is due to fight Tanzania Vincent Mbilinyi for the WBO Africa Junior welterweight title on December 26.
