10 Ashaiman SHS Students Missing

THE DOMESTIC Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVUS) of the Ashaiman Divisional Police is investigating the circumstances under which some 10 students of the Ashaiman Senior High School have gone missing for almost a month after attending vacation classes in the school.

Two out of the 10 second-year students, whose ages range from 17 to 19 years, were found in a bush near Michel Camp in the Kpone-Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday.

The students asserted that the world is possessed with too many evil spirits hence, their decision to hide themselves in the bush to embark on fasting and prayers to fight against the evil powers that they claimed have been destroying the world.

Currently, the police are making a lot of efforts to locate the remaining eight students – five girls and three boys – who allegedly took to their heels when the two – a girl and a boy – were found.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mavis Nortey, Coordinator at the Ashaiman Divisional DOVVSU, told DAILY GUIDE that her outfit on Tuesday received a report of a student missing after she had left home for vacation classes.

She said the students reported to classes and one of them, a girl, told her colleagues that she had had a revelation about the world being full of evil spirits, and coming to an end.

DSP Nortey added that the girl therefore asked her colleagues to join her to fast and pray at a secluded place as God had revealed to her, and combat the evil spirits. The police officer said the colleagues agreed to the girl’s request and joined her.

According to DSP Mavis Nortey, the school authorities had refused to cooperate with the police to investigate the whereabouts of the remaining students.

Suspecting that the found students might be having psychological problems, she stated that police medical report form would be issued to their parents to send them to hospital for medical examination.
